When we’re young, we look to our parents for support in all aspects of life. We begin our lives completely dependent upon them. Without them we are lost.

Yet there comes a time in all of our lives where we must undergo a sort of role reversal. As our parents continue to age, they will likely lose the ability to do things for themselves. For some it happens gradually. For others it happens all of a sudden.

Either way, who do they have to turn to in their final, declining years? Us.

Have you noticed over the last couple of years that it seems as if a new natural disaster is around every corner? Hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, fires…it’s downright scary. And the fact is--there’s little you can do to prevent a natural disaster from destroying your home. Sure you can board up windows, install hurricane straps, and things of that nature, but if Mother Nature really wants to take down your home, she will.

It’s the American way. All our lives we accumulate various possessions--some valuable, some not. Furniture, jewelry, trinkets, décor. You name it. Along the way it’s difficult to get rid of most anything because we:

  • Convince ourselves that it has monetary value and can one day make us money
  • Develop emotional attachments to things that we find hard to break
  • Just don’t know what to do with it!

Recently, we came across an interesting business that offers services similar to ours—but for horses instead of people. Too often horses are left confined in their final years, making their lives stressful and, quite frankly, miserable. But the truth is, many of these horses have a few good years left in them.
